Your Best Destiny by Wintley Phipps

I have been really into reading on the topics of religion and ways to become a more devote person. I picked up a copy of Your Best Destiny by Wintley Phipps through the Tyndale Publishers. I was really excited to read this book, the title really pulled at me and was right in line with the type of message I have been searching out lately. I dug into this book as soon as it arrived on my doorstep.

It took a bit of time to get into this book, I struggled with the layout of the information and really did not see too much of a steady flow even within a chapter. I was finding enough nuggets of great insights that I kept going. I felt that this book ready more like a test book and does not offer the best structure to read cover to cover. It would be easy enough to pick up and start in any chapter as there is not much that relies on a previous chapter.

I wish there was more about the author and his story throughout the book. Although there were some snippets there was not much overall about how he came to each of the conclusions he had, or came across some of the stories. He was a bit too impersonal for this style of book.

Though I have several spots that I felt inspired by the book I was overall disappointed.

Please note I received a free copy of this book through the publisher for my review, my review is 100% my own opinion of the book.

Always Will by Melanie Jacobson – A light romance read. This was a great fast read. I flew through this book because the characters pulled me right into the story. I was fascinated to see what would happen next. I was kept guessing throughout the book on how it would actually end. I was very pleased with the dynamic and tenacity of the main character Hannah. I look forward to reading what else this author has in store… sequel on Sophie?
Always Will

For the Love by Jen Hatmaker – Jen hatmaker has an amazing ability to provide a book full of whit and thought provoking ideas. I could not put this book down. I laughed out loud (at the gym quite hilarious in itself). I love how she brings the real life attitude straight to the page. I felt like I was just sitting and talking with her as if an everyday occurance. I highly recommend this book.
For the Love: Fighting for Grace in a World of Impossible Standards

Dear Mr. Knightly by Katherine Reay – I really loved this story about a girl trying to find her way in the world when she just didn’t seem to understand. She works through some struggles about life, dealing with your past and finding your way. I was really moved by the basics in this book. I have heard that is it similar to an older book called Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster, I have not read this yet to tell you specifically how similar they are.
Dear Mr. Knightley: A Novel

On my list –

Own Your Life by Sally Clarkson – I was introduced to this book through a Periscope with MacKenzie Monroe (@BOLDTurquoise) and her bookclub. I am so excited to read this, just watching the scopes that have gone on for the first 4 chapters I know I will love this book and need it in my life.
